What are Kabobs?

Kabobs, also spelled as kebabs, are a popular dish in many cuisines around the world, particularly in Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and South Asian cuisines.

These flavorful dishes typically consist of small pieces of meat, vegetables, and sometimes fruit threaded onto skewers and grilled or roasted over an open flame. The skewered meat or vegetables are often seasoned with spices, herbs, and other flavorings.

There are many different types of kabobs from around the world, with a wide range of ingredients and flavors. For example, Persian kabobs typically use marinated beef or lamb, while South Asian kabobs more often feature chicken, fish or paneer. In fact, one of the top vegetarian is paneer (an Indian cheese) with grilled vegetables.

Some popular types of kabobs include shish kebab, seekh kebab, and chicken tikka. There are generally two ways of making them: with mince meat or with cubes of meat or cheese and other ingredients. With mince, you form it around the skewer.

Kabobs are often served with rice, bread, or salad and many recipes include a dipping or marinating sauce. Or a glaze to baste it with while it’s cooking.

They’re a great option for outdoor cooking or party food, as they’re easy to make and can be cooked quickly over a fire or on a portable grill.
