If you want to enjoy your backyard to the fullest, you may need some outdoor living products. These can help make it more comfortable and fun.

Outdoor patio furniture and firepit

We’re not all blessed with a sensational view off the backyard, but it doesn’t matter. Even if all you have is a balcony on the back of your apartment, there’s so much you can do to make that space welcoming and relaxing.

Misting Fans

If you live in a hot area, you can put an oscillating misting fan on your patio, balcony, deck or in your backyard. It connects to a garden hose and sprays a fine mist to cool off a decent-sized area. You can use multiple fans to cool a larger area.

Misting System

You can also get a misting system that works without a fan. This is basically a hose with nozzles spaced at intervals to put out a fine mist.

Having a shelter on the patio or backyard can be wonderful for providing shade and maybe keeping the bugs away.

Canopy Tent

A canopy tent is the most affordable way to shelter a part of your yard or patio. It’s less expensive than a permanent structure like a pergola or gazebo.

There are lots of reasons to pick a simple tent that can be put away when you’re not using it rather than a permanent structure. For example, you might have a patios that’s in front of windows, so any structure on it would block natural light from those rooms, for example.

It’s also a good option if your HOA won’t let you put up a permanent structure, or you just don’t want anything permanent. Maybe you’re not planning to stay in your current house for much longer and want a tent you can take with you.

You can also add mosquito netting to your canopy if you need it in your area.

Patio Umbrellas

Sometimes all you need is a patio umbrella. Some of these hook to patio tables while other stand independently. Most can work either way. Either way you’ll need a table or stand that has a place for the umbrella to connect.

Clamp-on umbrellas are another option, and they don’t need a connection for the umbrella. You just clamp them onto a table, chair or heavy planter.

If you like to throw parties in your backyard, you should consider some entertaining/hosting options.

Outdoor Bars

Outdoor bars can be a terrific addition to any patio, balcony or backyard. They don’t take up much room, and they can add some style and ambience, as well as a convenient place to fix drinks.

But if you’re pressed for space, a potting bench with a sink can serve as one when you need it. It will do double duty for gardening and entertaining.

Solar Powered Rope Lighting

Solar powered rope lighting is an affordable way to create some beautiful lighting around your patio or deck. You can drape it wherever it works best, and because it’s powered by the sun, it doesn’t use electricity or batteries.

Wind Chimes

You can buy them, but learning how to make your own wind chimes is fun and creative, and they make a great addition to the back yard.
